West Michigan Aviation Academy is currently seeking an Applied Physics Teacher.  Must have teacher certification with DE endorsement.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Applied Physics Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in physics and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment that encourages curiosity and critical thinking. As an Applied Physics Teacher, you will develop and implement engaging lesson plans that help students understand and appreciate the real-world applications of physics concepts.

Responsibilities:

Essential Duties:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that meet the curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning styles, integrating hands-on projects and real-life applications of physical principles.

  • Develop assessments and monitor student performance through various methods, including tests, quizzes, projects, experimental labs, and presentations.

  • Ensure that all laboratory activities adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to create a safe learning environment for students.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to align curricula and participate in ongoing professional development initiatives.

  • Participate in school activities, meetings, and events to contribute to the overall mission of the institution.

  • Maintain a safe and positive environment for all students

  • Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and school staff

  • Regular and predictable attendance

Cognitive Demands:

  • Supervision of multiple students at once

  • Establishing routines and procedures

  • Maintaining a safe and orderly environment

  • Create and implement instructional plans

  • Participate in continuous professional development

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

Physical Demands:

  • Occasionally lift/move objects weighing up to 25lbs

  • Stand and walk frequently

  • Occasionally sit on the floor or bend down/squat

  • Withstand all demands presented by outside weather conditions at any time of the year

  • Withstand a moderate noise level

  • Be able to perform first aid/CPR if necessary

  • Assist/lift students, as necessary

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Physics, Education, or a related field. (Master’s degree preferred)

  • Valid teaching certification/license in Michigan for secondary education with DE endorsement. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in planning and assessing educational activities.

  • Strong knowledge of physics concepts and applications, particularly as they relate to real-world scenarios.
