Long-Term English Subsitute Teacher
West Michigan Aviation Academy is currently seeking a Long-Term Substitute Teacher for English. Position starts August 18th through October 27th. Enrollment with Edustaff is required.

Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Long Term English Substitute Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will exhibit a strong command of the English language, possess excellent communication skills, and be able to create an engaging and inclusive classroom environment. This role requires flexibility, creativity, and a commitment to fostering a love for reading and writing among students.
Key Responsibilities
Essential Duties:
Implement lesson plans and manage classroom activities in accordance with the school’s curriculum and policies
Provide instruction in reading, writing, literature, and language arts while adapting approaches to meet the diverse needs of students
Monitor student performance through various methods, including tests, quizzes, projects, and presentations
Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance
Collaborate with other educators and staff to support school-wide initiatives and events
Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events as required
Maintain a safe and positive environment for all students
Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and school staff
Regular and predictable attendance
Cognitive Demands:
Supervision of multiple students at once
Establishing routines and procedures
Maintaining a safe and orderly environment
Create and implement instructional plans
Effective oral and written communication skills
Physical Demands:
Occasionally lift/move objects weighing up to 25lbs
Stand and walk frequently
Occasionally sit on the floor or bend down/squat
Withstand all demands presented by outside weather conditions at any time of the year
Withstand a moderate noise level
Be able to perform first aid/CPR if necessary
Assist/lift students, as necessary
Qualifications
60+ college is required. Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field preferred;
Valid teaching certification, or eligibility to obtain a permit.
Previous teaching or substitute teaching experience in English is highly desirable.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to balance multiple responsibilities and commitments.
