West Michigan Aviation Academy is seeking a High School Teacher.  Must have teacher certification.

WMAA is an innovative, academically rigorous charter high school with a focus on hands-on aviation and STEM education. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated High School Teacher for the 2025/2026 school year. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating an engaging and supportive learning environment for students. This role requires a strong commitment to fostering academic, social, and emotional growth in middle school students.

Responsibilities:

Essential Duties:

• Develop and deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate lesson plans based on curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning styles.

• Develop assessments and monitor student performance through various methods, including tests, quizzes, projects, and presentations.

• Collaborate with colleagues to align curricula and participate in ongoing professional development initiatives.

• Participate in school activities, meetings, and events to contribute to the overall mission of the institution.

• Maintain a safe and positive environment for all students

• Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and school staff

• Regular and predictable attendance

Cognitive Demands:

• Supervision of multiple students at once

• Establishing routines and procedures

• Maintaining a safe and orderly environment

• Create and implement instructional plans

• Participate in continuous professional development

• Effective oral and written communication skills

Physical Demands:

• Occasionally lift/move objects weighing up to 25lbs

• Stand and walk frequently

• Occasionally sit on the floor or bend down/squat

• Withstand all demands presented by outside weather conditions at any time of the year

• Withstand a moderate noise level

• Be able to perform first aid/CPR if necessary

• Assist/lift students, as necessary

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Education, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.

• Valid teaching certification/license in Michigan.

• Strong understanding of child development and effective teaching strategies.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in planning and assessing educational activities.
