Job Description:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Long Term Middle School Substitute Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess the skills to engage middle school students, adapt to diverse learning styles, and promote critical thinking and collaboration. This position is responsible for delivering instructional programs, managing classroom dynamics, and ensuring a safe and productive learning environment in the absence of the regular teacher.

Key Responsibilities:

Essential Duties:

• Implement lesson plans and manage classroom activities in accordance with the school’s curriculum and policies

• Monitor student performance through various methods, including tests, quizzes, projects, and presentations

• Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance

• Collaborate with other educators and staff to support school-wide initiatives and events

• Maintain a safe and positive environment for all students

• Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and school staff

• Regular and predictable attendance

Cognitive Demands:

• Supervision of multiple students at once

• Establishing routines and procedures

• Maintaining a safe and orderly environment

• Create and implement instructional plans

• Effective oral and written communication skills

Physical Demands:

• Occasionally lift/move objects weighing up to 25lbs

• Stand and walk frequently

• Occasionally sit on the floor or bend down/squat

• Withstand all demands presented by outside weather conditions at any time of the year

• Withstand a moderate noise level

• Be able to perform first aid/CPR if necessary

• Assist/lift students, as necessary

Qualifications:

• 60+ college is required. Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field preferred; 

• Valid teaching certification, or eligibility to obtain a permit.

• Experience working with middle school-aged children preferred.

• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to balance multiple responsibilities and commitments.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
