Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Social Studies Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of social studies concepts, a passion for teaching, and the ability to engage students in meaningful discussions about history, geography, economics, and social issues. The Social Studies Teacher will create an inclusive classroom environment that encourages curiosity, respect, and a genuine interest in the social sciences.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that meet the curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning styles.
Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and resources to enhance student engagement and understanding of scientific concepts.
Create and maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to learning, fostering a culture of curiosity and respect.
Assess and evaluate student performance through tests, assignments, and hands-on experiments, providing constructive feedback to guide their academic growth.
Encourage critical thinking and discussions around social studies topics, including but not limited to history, culture, citizenship, and global issues.
Collaborate with colleagues to align curricula and participate in ongoing professional development initiatives.
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and opportunities for improvement.
Participate in school activities, meetings, and events to contribute to the overall mission of the institution.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Social Studies Education, History, Political Science, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
Valid teaching certification/license in Michigan for secondary education with an endorsement in the subject.
Strong knowledge of current scientific concepts, instructional strategies, and educational technology.
Proven ability to engage and motivate diverse groups of students, fostering a love for science and inquiry-based learning.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in planning and assessing educational activities.
Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with scientific advancements and teaching methodologies.
