Instructional Coach
Old Redford Academy is hiring a High School Instructional Coach for ELA and Social Studies. Must have a Michigan Teacher Certification.
We are looking to hire an Instructional Coach to work with teachers to improve the quality of their lessons and the quality of students' education.
Old Redford Academy has new leadership, new direction and a new commitment to academic excellence. We are looking for dedicated teachers that will allow all students to contribute to classroom learning by sharing and gaining knowledge from each other. The Old Redford Academy’s philosophy is based on early work of Dr. Maria Montessori Method of Teaching which has a focus on educating “the whole child”. Responsibilities:
- Work with school turnaround network to assess needs and integrate multi-tiered systems of support for teachers, including coaching in-school teams on analysis of data
- Develop and model high quality lessons and units for teachers
- Coach one-on-one in high needs classrooms, building and maintaining confidential relationships
- Provide training and support with implementation of a comprehensive system of instruction
- Serve as a source for the development and delivery of professional development activities related to research-based strategies and interventions for teachers
- Implement creative methods of instruction/coaching (exercises and activities) that will help students learn and improve their academic performance in their classes
- Support the integration of technology in effective instruction
- Demonstrate a confident working knowledge of assigned content area(s) including appropriate instructional strategies, available resources and the use of technology to enhance instruction and organization
- Participate in school improvement activities focused on instructional practices and based on student outcomes
- Stay informed on the current research and recommendations relevant to the coaching role
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Education or relevant field.
Michigan Teaching Certification.
Knowledge of best practices in instruction, curriculum development, and assessment
Able to analyze data and use it to improve instruction
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
Well-organized with excellent leadership abilities.
Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills.
