Music Teacher

Old Redford Academy is hiring a Music Teachers for both middle and high school campuses. Must have a Michigan Teacher Certification with endorsements. This position is open to Art, Band, Choir, or both subjects. Position is immediate!

We are looking for an experienced music teacher to be responsible for teaching music as part of the school curriculum. The music teacher will follow the guidelines as set out by the education department which includes the theory and practice of general music, singing and/or playing musical instruments.

Responsibilities: 

  • Teaching general styles of music.

  • Teaching singing and/or musical instruments to students from beginner to advanced level.

  • Developing lesson plans and curricula based on the needs of individual students and classes.

  • Grading tests, assignments, exams, and other assessments, and communicating with parents, students, teachers, and counselors regarding underperformance and other concerns.

  • Assessing student needs and providing support or extra resources to struggling students as well as exceptional achievers.

  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.

  • Ensuring all curriculum, school, and state requirements are met.

  • Participate in faculty meetings and professional development activities as required.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in teaching or relevant field.

  • Michigan Teaching Certification with Music (JX) endorsement. 

  • In-depth knowledge of teaching methods and legal educational procedures.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

  • Well-organized with excellent leadership abilities.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills.
