Student Advocate
Detroit Community Schools is hiring a full time Student Advocates. Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field (Master's degree preferred) if required.

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Student Advocate to join our team. The Student Advocate will serve as an intermediary between students, faculty, and administration, ensuring that students' voices are heard and their needs are met. This role will involve providing support and guidance to students, addressing their concerns, and helping them access resources and services that can enhance their educational experience.
Responsibility:
Essential Duties:
Provide one-on-one support to students, offering advice on academic, personal, and social challenges they may face.
Assist in mediating conflicts between students and faculty or staff members, ensuring fair and respectful communication.
Help students identify and access campus resources, including counseling services, academic advising, and extracurricular activities.
Act as a voice for students in administrative meetings and committees, representing their interests and concerns.
Develop and facilitate workshops, seminars, and informational sessions on topics such as student rights, academic success strategies, mental health awareness, and leadership development.
Collect and analyze feedback from students to identify trends and areas for improvement within the school.
Work closely with faculty, administration, and student organizations to promote a positive campus climate and enhance student engagement.
Assist in addressing crisis situations, providing immediate support to students in distress and coordinating with appropriate resources.
Assist with office operations including maintaining documents and procedures.
Effectively communicate with students, staff, and parents.
Work independently and with others to fulfill school goals and objectives.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
Previous experience in student advocacy, counseling, or educational support services is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of student rights, resources, and policies within an educational environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with a diverse student body.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
Proficient in using technology and software programs for data management and communication.
